With the intention of occupying the final two spots on Fremantle’s roster, three train-on players have arrived for preseason.
When the AFL approved Josh Corbett (hip) and Sebit Kuek (knee and shoulder) to be placed on the Club’s long-term injury list while they recuperate from surgery, two spots opened up earlier this week.
Sebit Kuek (Woodville-West Torrens), Patrick Voss (Essendon), and Sam van Rooyen (Claremont) quickly got involved in a midweek session at Fremantle Oval.
Van Rooyen, the 193-cm younger brother of Melbourne’s star forward Jacob, scored 22 goals in 14 games for Claremont’s championship-winning Colts team before being passed over in the AFL National Draft.20-year-old, 194 cm Voss, a former rookie for Essendon, finished with 30 goals in 17 games to win the Bombers VFL 2023 best and fairest title.
Beattie, 20, is a small forward who moved to the SANFL from the Murray Bushrangers in an attempt to play in the AFL. He is currently waiting for his chance.
The deadline for the Supplemental Selection Period is February 15.
It is also possible to hold open list spots for the mid-season draft in 2024.sam
