Packers Coach Talks About the Latest on Christian Watson’s Injuries

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in a thrilling Week 13 game on Sunday Night Football to raise their record to 6-6. The Packers’ victory moved them up to the seventh seed in the NFC playoff standings. Sadly, they suffered a difficult blow to their victory when they lost their top wide receiver, Christian Watson, to what appeared to be a hamstring injury late in the contest

Given Watson’s history of injuries, it is obvious how serious this could get. In his brief career, hamstring problems have already cost him a great deal of time.

Watson has finally begun to resemble the star that the Packers saw in him the previous season over the past few weeks. He has once again emerged as Jordan Love’s top target, but if the injury proves to be serious, all of that could end abruptly.

The Packers’ head coach, Matt LaFleur, was questioned about Watson’s injury on Monday after the significant victory. His response is a major cause for alarm in Green Bay. It was succinct and to the point.

For the final stretch, the Packers absolutely need their best wide receiver to be on the field. They will probably need to win four out of their final five games to qualify for the playoffs.

In the last two weeks of the season, Green Bay will play the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears in some tough division rivalry games. They’ll play the Carolina Panthers in Carolina, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field, and the New York Giants in New York before that. While they should be able to handle things, none of those games will be “easy” wins.

Nine games into the season, Watson has already caught 28 passes for 422 yards and five touchdowns. Although injuries have been a major problem for him, those numbers are still far below what was predicted of him.

Watson, who is only 24 years old, has all the makings of a successful wide receiver for the Packers. Right now, all they can do is hope he continues to be well.

When the Packers play the Giants in New York the following week, be sure to tune in to see if they can extend their winning streak to four games. On Monday Night Football, the game airs on ESPN at 8:15 p.m. EST.
