Pro Blue: Other NFL performances from Week 13 and Nico Collins’ career-best day in the Texans victory

The 2023 NFL season has just five weeks remaining, and a number of former Michigan Wolverines are assisting their respective teams in pushing for the postseason.

Now let’s look at Week 13’s top performances.

Nico Collins lights up the Broncos in the victory
Nico Collins, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans in his third NFL season, is quietly putting together a strong case to be selected to the Pro Bowl, and his most recent performance on Sunday demonstrated this.

Collins outgained the Denver Broncos by catching nine passes for 191 yards. Collins, who has now gained 100 yards or more four times this season after doing so just once in his first two seasons, set career highs for both of those marks in a single game. There’s real chemistry between him and C.J. Stroud.

Just over two-thirds of the way into the season, Collins has already hauled in 59 passes for 991 yards and six scores. With only six receivers having more receiving yards than him, he leads what has developed into a very strong passing game. At the end of the season, hopefully, he receives his flowers along with a Pro Bowl nod.

A game with multiple sacks and a new high for Kwity Paye’s career
Kwity Paye recorded six tackles, including four solo stops, and two sacks in a victory over the Tennessee Titans. He also made one of those sacks fumble.

In just 10 games, he has already set a new season high with 7.5 sacks, marking his first multi-sack game of the year. That season total is second among former Wolverines and ties for 18th place among all NFL defenders, with only Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary (nine) having more.

Zach Charbonnet scores his first touchdown in football.
In a loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the second quarter, running back Zach Charbonnet of the Seattle Seahawks scored his first touchdown of the season. As always, that kind of touchdown is the sweetest.

Charbonnet finished with 109 yards from scrimmage overall, 60 of which came on the ground. After 11 games in his rookie season, Charbonnet has amassed 368 rushing yards and 142 receiving yards. It was the best game of his career thus far.

The Cowboys’ tight end Luke Schoonmaker had a 12-yard reception in that same game, and cornerback Jourdan Lewis had three solo tackles.

Other noteworthy plays: Mike Danna, a defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs, made three tackles in the team’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, including a crucial sack on a third down in the fourth quarter that resulted in a field goal. With 6.5 sacks after that one, he set a new career high for a single season.

On Sunday Night Football, he wasn’t the only former Wolverine to go after the quarterback. On his birthday, Rashan Gary had four tackles and half a sack.

-Defense end Aidan Hutchinson of the Detroit Lions recorded two solo tackles, including a tackle for loss, in a victory over the New Orleans Saints. Graham Glasgow, an offensive lineman, started at guard but moved to center when Frank Ragnow was hurt. With just one sack allowed, he assisted the Lions in rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns.

Cesar Ruiz, an offensive lineman for the Saints, assisted New Orleans in rushing for 113 yards and three touchdowns in that same game. His unit allowed just two sacks.

Cornerback D.J. Turner II of the Cincinnati Bengals recorded eight solo tackles during a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in overtime. Safety Dax Hill, a teammate, recorded four solo tackles and one pass break.

-San Francisco 49ers cornerback Ambry Thomas recorded six solo tackles and three pass breakups in a victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Kicker Jake Moody, a teammate, converted all six of his extra points.

-Khaleke Hudson of the Washington Commanders recorded three solo tackles and a quarterback hit in a defeat to the Miami Dolphins.

-Safety Jabrill Peppers of the New England Patriots recorded four tackles, three of which were solo, in a defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.
