A.J. Hinch and the Detroit Tigers have extended their contract.

The Detroit Tigers are having a fantastic day thanks to some positive news from the Winter Meetings. Scott Harris, President of Baseball Operations for the Tigers, announced that the team and manager A.J. Hinch have come to an understanding.

The manager of the Detroit Tigers has signed a long-term contract extension. The Tigers will keep Hinch around for a number of years, but they did not specify how long the extension would last or what conditions would apply.

Harris said that Hinch will be with the Tigers “for a long time,” though it is unclear how long. The Tigers have had Hinch as their skipper for the last three seasons. Over his three seasons in the Motor City, he has guided Detroit to a 221-265 record.

The news that Hinch will be a long-term member of the Tigers is excellent. He will remain a crucial component of the puzzle, collaborating with the players and front office to make sure the team can keep trying to make progress.

There were rumors that A.J. Hinch might leave his position as manager to take a job in the front office after the Tigers hired Scott Harris and had space for a new General Manager (GM). However, he chose to remain in the dugout and keep trying to help this Tigers team win.

Hinch speaks out a lot in front of the players and the press. He has done a lot of good things for this organization and tells it like it is. Despite the fact that Harris and company “inherited” him following Al Avila’s departure, Harris has clearly bought into what Harris is doing and wanted to make a statement by designating him as this team’s captain.

Hinch’s signing by the Tigers was considered a steal for Detroit at the time, and given that he will be sticking around for a while, that feeling should continue. He has been a great manager for Detroit and has benefited the Tigers in a number of ways. Detroit will have Hinch for a very long time, which is good news.

After announcing this move, the Tigers coaching staff is also set to go for the 2024 season. With the extension of Hinch, Detroit is taking a chance on this gamble and will have Hinch as this team’s bench boss for years to come, hopefully seeing things through to the other side, as he has mentioned he wants to do over the years.
