Uncertainty at quarterback for the Jaguars The starting quarterback for the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence, is recovering from an ankle injury he suffered during Monday night’s Week 13 game against the Bears. Although Lawrence has a high ankle sprain, HC Doug Pederson told reporters on Tuesday that the ankle is stable and they will monitor Lawrence’s progress throughout the week.

The Browns defense’s reaction The Browns defense found it difficult to dominate their opponents in Weeks 12 and 13. They only had one sack in those two contests, and their loss to the Rams was their first sack-free game of the year. However, with 3,126 yards allowed, the Browns have given up the fewest yards this season. They lead the league in first down defense this season with just 162 allowed. The Browns will need to strengthen their defense as a whole because the Jaguars offense averages 23.8 points per game, 243.6 net passing yards per game, and 103.3 net rushing yards per game.

The Browns’ strategy of balancing their passing and run games The Browns may face a special challenge on Sunday because the Jaguars’ run defense has only allowed opponents to average 93.1 rushing yards per game so far this season. The Jaguars have allowed less than 100 rushing yards in a game in seven of their games this season. They have, however, also conceded four games with more than 100 rushing yards, including their Week 13 loss to the Bengals, in which they gave up 156 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Conversely, the Jaguars allow 261.7 passing yards per game on average and gave up 305 passing yards to the Bengals. The Browns can look ahead while they resolve their own quarterback situation.
