Birmingham City vs. Coventry City: Jack Grealish delivers a message to his former teammate from Aston Villa
Callum O’Hare received a lot of praise from Jack Grealish following his standout performance in Coventry City’s 2-0 victory over Birmingham City on Friday night.
Although O’Hare’s ability as an attacking midfielder has long been recognized, a serious knee injury prevented him from playing for much of 2023.
But over the last few months, he has been making appearances while progressively increasing his fitness.
And last night, O’Hare gave the Sky Blues a taste of his best play when he scored his first two goals of the season with a deft toe-poke finish and a masterful slam.
It was evident how much the player meant to the supporters as he celebrated the goals and the victory at full time, but it may have been even more sweet for O’Hare because of his Aston Villa background.
Jack Grealish messages Callum O’Hare
Grealish appears to have been watching before Man City’s trip to Luton this coming weekend, as the England international thanked O’Hare on his Instagram story for an incredible performance.
“Good job, son. I’m glad to have you back following your injury. This evening’s class.
As previously stated, O’Hare trained and saw Grealish on a daily basis throughout the years, having played for Villa’s academy prior to joining the Sky Blues, and it’s no secret that he admires the winger.
This message will therefore undoubtedly have a significant impact and demonstrate that Grealish is still monitoring his friend and the trajectory of his career.
Naturally, he would have been thrilled to see O’Hare score against Villa’s bitter rivals, Birmingham City.
At Coventry, Callum O’Hare needs to get going.
It’s easy to forget how good a player is when they miss so much time due to a serious knee injury.
O’Hare was an important player for Coventry before the loss; his objectives and inventiveness gave Mark Robins’ team a new offensive approach.
After his return, it was only natural that patience would be required, and he would have been disappointed with the way the previous few weeks had gone.
However, O’Hare felt a great sense of relief last night because he was back on the scoreboard and seriously hurting the opposition.
It’s time to build on that performance, and Robins will be happy to see O’Hare getting close to peak form because he knows it will make the team much more dangerous in the closing minutes.
Coventry is beginning to get the recognition their performances deserve after a sluggish start, and they will be watching the table as they attempt to push into the play-offs once more.
Sorting out Callum O’Hare’s future needs
Aside from football, O’Hare’s performance served as a reminder that the Sky Blues need to exert every effort to resolve his contract dispute.
The 25-year-old is about to enter the last year of his contract at the CBS Arena. Although it would seem sensible for all sides for him to sign an extension, there will be rumors about his future up until that point.
