Dre Greenlaw was fined for the hit that resulted in the Big Dom sideline incident.
When Dre Greenlaw’s hit caused a sideline confrontation with Big Dom, it was first reported on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Dre Greenlaw, a linebacker for the 49ers, was fined $10,927 for unwarranted roughness against the Eagles last week.
The third-quarter hit on DeVonta Smith by Greenlaw, 26, which resulted in the on-field altercation with Eagles senior advisor to the general manager/chief security officer Dom DiSandro, was penalized.
Greenlaw was disqualified as a result of the incident, and DiSandro was also taken off the sidelines for the remainder of the contest.
We found out on Saturday that DiSandro would not be allowed to watch the Sunday night Eagles vs. Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium.
The Eagles released a statement saying, “We are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place. This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL.” “Dom will continue to play for the team in all other capacities even though he won’t be on the sidelines this Sunday.”
According to ESPN, since the league is still looking into the situation, more sanctions might still be applied.
After the incident, Greenlaw and DiSandro are said to have apologized to each other through middlemen.
“We just exchanged a formal apology just between me and [49ers general manager John Lynch] and some of the same people that we do know that in the building and stuff like that,” Greenlaw told ESPN. “He struck me as a sincere man. Looked like a guy that the whole building was in love with. To be honest, I detest that. I detest that it even got to that point and escalated.”
Jalen Carter, a defensive tackle for the Eagles, was fined $16,937 for unwarranted roughness during a 49ers extra point in the third quarter. On the field, Carter received a flag for the late hit as well. Carter’s fine was higher than Greenlaw’s because this was his second infraction of the season.
Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles of San Francisco was also fined $9,940 for needless roughness in addition to the previous two. On the field, he was asked to put on a facemask.
The 13th week of the NFL season resulted in 22 fines. The Professional Athletes Foundation and the NFL Foundation receive donations in lieu of league revenue from these fines.
Following his interaction with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, Eagles head of security and senior adviser to general manager Dom DiSandro was barred this past weekend from his long-standing game-day residence along the Eagles’ sideline.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the story first, and the Eagles later confirmed it in a statement.
Schefter reports that DiSandro met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday in New York to talk about the altercation that occurred early in the third quarter of the 49ers’ 42-19 victory over the Eagles at the Linc on Sunday.
The Eagles released a statement saying, “We are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place. This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL.” “Dom will continue to play for the team in all other capacities even though he won’t be on the sidelines this Sunday.”
According to Schefter, the league is still looking into the incident and may impose more sanctions.
DiSandro was told to leave the sidelines by officials, and Greenlaw was ejected from the game.
For the majority of his 25 years with the Eagles, DiSandro has been a well-known figure on the sidelines, escorting different head coaches on and off the field before and after games.
The San Jose Mercury News reports that after Greenlaw slammed Smith to the ground, DiSandro shoved Greenlaw lightly, to which Greenlaw retaliated by lightly hitting DiSandro in the face. Both men apologized for the incident.
At AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday night, the Eagles take on the Cowboys.
Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro won’t be there to calm things down if there is another altercation during Sunday night’s game between Philadelphia and Dallas.
DiSandro won’t be able to watch the game from the sidelines on Sunday night, according to a league source.
That’s not a suspension, the person says. DiSandro will be allowed to go about his everyday business, travel with the team, and attend his regular meetings and obligations on game day on Sunday at the stadium. He is allowed to be in the locker room as well. He isn’t allowed to watch the game from the sidelines, though.
At the league office, a meeting regarding the situation was held on Friday. The 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw and DiSandro got into an altercation, and the NFL is still taking everything into consideration.
During Sunday’s 49ers-Eagles game, DiSandro crossed the white line that separates the field from the bench area. He touched Greenlaw, who hit DiSandro with a sort of punch that just missed his face. They were both kicked out.
On September 13, the NFL sent out a memo to teams reminding them of the non-player game day regulations. This week, a second memo was sent.
Regarding the DiSandro case’s status, the Eagles did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
