Commanders: What Will Happen in “The Lost Season”‘s Final Four Games?

After defeating the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos in back-to-back games to start the season, the Washington Commanders have only won twice more. That feeling quickly faded after the season got off to such a promising start, with the new ownership group instilling optimism, belief, and excitement for what lies ahead. Sam Howell has been assigned to lead the offense, and after 13 weeks, it’s safe to say that was the right choice

.

Though there are still ups and downs, Howell has largely demonstrated that even though he isn’t a quarterback in the upper echelon, he can serve as the team’s face for the foreseeable future. For the next five to ten years, according to defensive end Jonathan Allen, Howell will be the starting quarterback for the team. That adds credence to Washington’s profile. Although Washington’s season had some positive aspects, it also had some negative ones because the team traded defensive ends Chase Young and Montez Sweat because it was obvious that they were focused on the future.

It was an indication that things were shifting in Washington when defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and defensive backs coach Brent Vieselmeyer were fired following the crushing defeat to Dallas. There is still a lot to be gained from the final four games of the season—if you want to look for it, as Washington is currently 4-9—with the season almost over. Undoubtedly, a process of assessment of c ones are not.

The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys are in the running for the NFC West, so the Commanders could act as spoilers with the Rams, Jets, 49ers, and Cowboys. Despite the fact that the season hasn’t gone well overall, the Commanders still have four games left to win the season. Though it may not be much, at least it’s something.
