Kris Moore has signed a contract extension with Leeds United after impressing with the under-21s as a defender

Terms have been agreed with centre-back Kris Moore on a new contract at Leeds United. The 19-year-old most recently caught the eye with a decent turn from the bench against Manchester United in Oslo.

The under-21 regular has signed an extension which commits him to Elland Road until June 2025. After coming through the academy ranks at Thorp Arch, Moore may be open to a loan move next season, given he played a key part in the under-21 promotion last term.

Opportunities may be difficult to come by in the immediate future for Moore, with Charlie Cresswell, Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper, Max Wober, Pascal Struijk and Leo Hjelde all jostling for minutes. He formed a strong partnership with Jeremiah Mullen in the youth ranks last season.

A club statement said: “Leeds United are pleased to announce Kris Moore has signed a contract extension with the club, to see him remain at Elland Road until the summer of 2025. A key part of a promotion-winning squad for the under-21s in Premier League 2 Division Two last season, Moore scored in the all-important play-off final victory against Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.

“The 19-year-old has featured regularly at both centre-back and at right-back when called upon. During the 2022/23 campaign, he played 19 times in Premier League 2, three times in the Papa John’s Trophy and a further two times in the end-of-season play-offs.

“Following his strong 2022/23 season, the defender has recently been involved in Daniel Farke’s squad, playing for the Whites against Manchester United in Oslo earlier this month. Having progressed throughout the academy system at Thorp Arch over the years, Moore will now look to continue his development over the next two seasons.”
