Free Agent for the Dodgers The Toronto Blue Jays are showing interest in JD Martinez

The Dodgers no longer need to bring back designated hitter J.D. Martinez because they signed two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to a record-setting contract. Martinez played for the Dodgers during the 2023 season and was one of the team’s more productive players.

It proved to be a wise gamble as he signed with Los Angeles to increase his value within the league. Martinez demonstrated that he still had a lot of pop in his bat in 2023 by playing a significant role in the Dodgers’ historic offensive campaign.

Martinez hit.271 in 113 games with 33 home runs and 103 RBI. He had one of his best seasons in a long time, and as a result, he is currently being wooed by teams as the best DH option.

This offseason, Martinez has been connected to the Arizona Diamondbacks; now, you can include the Toronto Blue Jays in the mix. According to MLB.com’s Blue Jays Insider Keegan Matheson, Toronto is considering bringing Martinez to town for the upcoming campaign.

Because of his time spent with the Boston Red Sox, Toronto is familiar with Martinez and has witnessed the harm he can inflict on rival teams. On a one- or two-year contract, he would not be overly costly and would provide them with a reliable veteran presence in their lineup.

It would be entertaining to watch Martinez join a lineup that already features several power hitters. Martinez might be able to help the Blue Jays overcome their recent struggles when it comes to the postseason

.

He has played in 33 postseason games and hit.294 in his career, with 10 home runs and 31 runs batted in. It makes perfect sense for him to be traveling to Toronto since he steps up when the lights are at their brightest.

The Dodgers would much rather see him play for a team other than the Diamondbacks in the NL West. Even though he was only with them for one season, he had a good hitting record against L.A.

Martinez’s market will heat up even more with Ohtani’s signing.
