After battling an incurable brain tumor, a NZ actor and arm wrestler passes away.
Jason “Levi” Holley, a competitive arm wrestler and actor from New Zealand, passed away after a fight with an incurable brain tumor.
Holley gained notoriety when he sold everything he owned in an attempt to survive and travel to Australia to receive additional cancer treatment.
Renowned director and cameraman Richard Long, a friend, wrote on Facebook that this was the “saddest of news.”
“I wrote a character role in Not For Children for Levi, who was a dear friend and actor,” Long stated.
2015 saw the screening of Long’s first film as director and writer, Not for Children, a terrorist story that was primarily filmed in Auckland but took place in seven different countries.

Levi was not only an actor but also a father, a competitive arm wrestler, a mentor, a coach, and a friend to many.
“He freely donated his time and abilities over the years, starting at the young age of 18 as a coach and trainer. a frequent participant in fundraising events for charities, supporting amateur athletes from New Zealand who were self-funded.
“Thank you, Levi; you are loved.”
In a tribute, the NZ ArmWrestling Federation referred to Holley as “The Smiling Assassin” and a “true legend.”
It said, “He was one of the founding members of New Zealand arm wrestling, in addition to being a beloved friend and mentor.”
“Levi’s contributions will never be forgotten; his passion and dedication were evident.” There is a void in the arm wrestling community because of his absence.
“His whanau is in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you, Levi. I will miss you, friend.
The Australian Armwrestling Federation expressed its sorrow at hearing of Holley’s passing on the other side of the Atlantic.
Levi was a fierce competitor in his sport and a source of inspiration for many in our community, and their heroic fight against brain cancer was a testament to that.
“Levi, you were a real gentleman away from the table and a warrior at it.
“You were instrumental in building strong relationships between the arm wrestling communities in Australia and New Zealand, and we will never forget your unwavering efforts in keeping our teams together at FitX and Arnolds for ten years.
Holley, who was 48 years old when the tumor occurred, loved exercise.
Before the cancer was finally identified and a CT scan showed an irreversible brain tumor the size of an apricot in the center of his brain, it is said that he was rejected by multiple medical professionals.
Holley claimed in a social media post that the $300 per week he was receiving in sickness benefits was insufficient to cover the cost of the treatment that would increase his chances of survival.
For the treatment, he sold everything he owned, including his car and priceless Batman costumes.
