Jordan Hicks is activated by the Vikings from injured reserve.

His last game was on November 12 during the Saints’ victory. On Sunday, linebacker Jordan Hicks will rejoin the Vikings.

Six weeks after emergency leg surgery was necessary due to compartment syndrome, Hicks was added to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

In 2022, the 31-year-old defensive captain became a free agent and signed with the Vikings, where he played inside linebacker in their first 3-4 defense in many years. Prior to getting hurt, he started the first ten games of the 2023 campaign.

Minneapolis, Minnesota For their game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, the Detroit Lions announced that tight end Anthony Firkser and kicker Michael Badgley will be starting on the field.

No promotion comes as a surprise. With Riley Patterson cut this week, the Lions are currently without a kicker on the roster. This gives them a bigger leg in Badgley and some extra flexibility because he isn’t occupying a spot on the 53-man roster.

Badgley made 20 of 24 field-goal attempts with the Lions last year, then was beaten out by Patterson for the job this year. But Badgley was outplaying Patterson for weeks in practice, and the Lions pulled the trigger on the move last week against Denver. Badgley didn’t attempt a field goal in the game, but made all six point-after tries, a trouble spot for Patterson in recent weeks.

Badgley will have one more practice-squad elevation after this week, then the Lions will have to either sign him to the 53-man roster — which would cost someone else his job — or sign another kicker to the practice squad.

The Lions also needed more depth at tight end after losing Brock Wright to a hip injury. Sam LaPorta will continue to lead the rotation, while James Mitchell could see more action in place of Wright. To keep the numbers up, the Lions have elevated Firkser from the practice squad too.
