Wide Receiver Casey Cain of Texas Finds New House

Texas’s Austin Through the portal, Texas Longhorns transfer receiver Casey Cain has located a new place to call home. On Thursday, Cain shared on social media his intention to transfer to UNLV, where he will work with Brennan Marion, the former receivers coach at Texas who is now the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Rebels. Cain and the Longhorns will continue to practice in order to get ready for the College Football Playoffs.

Although coaches dislike it when players leave their program, Cain, who will be entering his junior season after redshirting his first year in Austin in 2021, might benefit greatly from reuniting with Marion, a former talented Longhorns assistant.

Although there was anticipation going into the fall that Cain could be a reliable complementary receiver in Steve Sarkisian’s offense, he fell far behind on the depth chart this season. Nevertheless, Cain, who appeared in 13 games and started three in 2022, has only made one reception for 13 yards this season.

Last season, he had a few standout performances with eight catches for 201 yards. In September 2022, Cain’s 29-yard reception late in the fourth quarter against Alabama put the Longhorns in position for the game-winning field goal. Texas lost 20-19 even though his efforts gave them the lead.

Cain made an impact against Washington in the Alamo Bowl, hauling in four passes for a career-high 108 yards. With the No. 3 Longhorns getting ready to take on No. 2 Washington on New Year’s Day, Cain, a native of New Orleans, will get to witness Texas’ CFP run to the Sugar Bowl.
