Notre Dame’s top recruiting class for 2025 starts the season.
The Irish and Marcus Freeman might be nearing a few more commitments.
Early in the cycle, Notre Dame’s top recruiting class for 2025 is slated to arrive as head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff hold 11 commitments. Early on, players like No. 5 safety Ivan Taylor, No. 7 tight end James Flanigan, and No. 7 quarterback Deuce Knight highlighted the haul.
Who could be next?
Christopher Burgess Jr., a defensive lineman for Chicago Simeon who is ranked Top247, will undoubtedly make his college decision on Saturday during NBC’s live broadcast from the All-American Bowl. The final four are Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, and the Irish; ND and OSU are arguably in the best positions.
Ethan Long, a safety from Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, is another prospect who might be on the verge of committing to the Irish.
The pulse is with ND, but there are a few other teams that could win Long, including Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State.
Along with my colleague Tom Loy, I have registered a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Irish.
Long is rated as the No. 35 safety by 247Sports, while Burgess is rated as a four-star recruit and the nation’s No. 21 defensive line prospect.
As you look back on this season, you’ll see that ten looks better than nine. Every chance you get to play, you want to win. To me, that’s a reflection of the direction this program is going. Nine wins last year and ten wins this year, we just want to keep getting better.
While the 2024 college football recruiting class has concluded its Early Signing Period, the 2025 cycle is already well underway, and the freshmen class of 2025 is nearing the end of their recruitment. A number of well-known commitments are approaching, including those from highly sought-after cornerback Jett White, who is expected to commit on January 6 at the All-American Bowl, and top prospect Bryce Underwood, who is expected to make his announcement during the first week of the new year.
Smoke Dixon, the national college football analyst for 247Sports, identified six players to watch in the early stages of the 2025 cycle on The College Football Recruiting Show. Underwood, White, and other players could have an immediate impact.
Even though there is still time for programs to sign elite players, the early 2025 team rankings are starting to take shape, with Notre Dame in first place just a year before National Signing Day. Though most blue-chip prospects are still undecided, there will likely be significant movement at the top of the rankings.
