Andy Reid thought Nottingham Forest star was unbelievable in second half vs Aston Villa it’s not Jota Silva…

Nottingham Forest were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday night as the gap narrowed between the Reds and the chasing pack in the quest for Champions League football.

Forest fell behind in the 13th minute and in the 15th minute found themselves 2-0 down after goals from Morgan Rogers, who caught Morato napping and Donyell Malan.

In the second half, Forest rallied and largely showcased exactly why they’re third in the Premier League table, although it did prove too late for the team to get anything in the bag for their efforts in the way of points, despite Jota Silva’s goal

Still, Forest have got their toughest remaining game of the season out of the way and now it’s all to play for in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

After the game, the talk turned towards the second half performance that Forest produced, with Villa almost left to rue their other missed chances on the night.

Although Redknapp praised the performance of Silva, Reid felt that another player produced the good during the second period from a Forest perspective.

He said: “We talked about Morgan Rogers in the first half and Morgan Gibbs-White was the same in the second half.

“He got on the ball more, he made Forest tick and started to create some chances. I really enjoyed Forest in the second half and Morgan was really good.”

Morgan Gibbs-White stats vs Aston Villa
The 25-year-old was fantastic during the second period and he really did get Forest on the front foot against a very good Aston Villa team.

Gibbs-White has been instrumental in the team’s good run this season and he will want to help Forest reach the Champions League after a solid campaign.

Coming up against Rogers who started for England ahead of him last month, Gibbs-White will have been keen to prove a bit of a point against Villa.

Some poor defending from his teammates – most notably Morato – didn’t see him upstage Rogers but once again he was one of the best Forest players on the pitch.
