Before Ja’Marr Chase, who may leave the Bengals in free agency, refers to Tee Higgins as “the best wing man I’ve ever had,”

The formidable wide receivers for the Cincinnati Bengals, Higgins and Chase, may find themselves on different teams come next season as Higgins is expected to become a free agent and Chase is awaiting a large contract extension to remain in Cincy. Higgins, however, is vital to the Bengals’ heart and soul and is someone they would not take well to lose, according to many of the team’s important players.

Star quarterback Joe Burrow stated that “we all want Tee back” at a press conference on Monday, citing the fact that “he’s what being a Bengal is all about.” In black and orange, head coach Zac Taylor continued, “It’s hard to imagine life without Tee Higgins”.

Chase is now adding his voice to the chorus of admirers for Higgins.

Regarding their collaborative relationship with Bounty, Chase told Business Insider, “He’s really the best wing man I’ve had.”

Higgins has stated unequivocally that he would prefer to go back to Cincinnati as opposed to going unsigned this spring. Having a quarterback like Burrow, who “makes things easier for us,” is a big draw, he told Business Insider.

Naturally, the 6-foot-4 Clemson recruit relishes playing next to Chase. Opposing defenses are forced to divide their attention between the talented receiving duo, giving both wideouts slightly more room to maneuver on any given snap than they might otherwise have.

“I have never collaborated with a player as influential as he is,” Higgins stated to Business Insider. This is the first time for me. It’s amazing to watch what he does on the field, and sometimes it’s just like, man.”

There’s good reason for Chase to keep playing with Higgins. However, following the Bengals’ season-ending game, the three-time Pro Bowler refrained from pledging to sign a reduced contract extension to allow the team to pay Higgins in addition.

Higgins is confident in his wingman’s loyalty despite this.

“He got my back just like I got his,” Higgins told Business Insider.
