Ohio State will host a four-star defensive end this weekend.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have not yet completed their 2024 recruiting class, even though the early signing period is over. Dominic Kirks, a four-star defensive tackle, is expected to pay Columbus an official visit this weekend. Kirks recently announced his decommitment from Washington after Alabama hired Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer.
This past season, the Riverside (Painesville, OH) product recorded 86 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks. 28 DECEMBER Last week, during the Early Signing Period, the Ohio State Buckeyes signed No. 1 wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, capping a nerve-wracking day that saw a flurry of rumors suggesting a flip.
But in the end, Smith stayed with the Buckeyes, which relieved Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, who had been clearly impacted by the news of Smith’s signing. But Smith never wavered in his decision to sign with the Bucks, according to offensive coordinator Brian Hartline of the Buckeyes.
“I guess I’ll say this about Jeremiah: He never wavered,” Hartline said. “His family remained steadfast. Two minutes before the hat came out, he was free to say anything he wanted, but he always told me the same thing. I’d always heard the same thing from his parents. Everything, from his family to him.”
You guys witness the reality of college football. You guys are the ones who click and have conversations and stuff like that. That’s all I have to say. I am so grateful to his family for their unwavering loyalty and consistent follow-through. He will be here in a few weeks, and I can’t wait for him.
To be fair, the Buckeyes did get their guy. That said, how close they were to losing him, is something that will be left up to debate. DECEMBER 18 Dominic Raiola may have broken the hearts of Ohio State Buckeyes fans when he de-committed almost one year ago today.
