I’m excited for Saturday | Coaches owe Saban a debt of gratitude, along with new clubs or a case of carbonara

Salutations from “Can’t Wait For Saturday,” your morning football snack, provided by veteran Illini beat writer, AP Top 25 voter, and state representative for Heisman Bob Asmussen. He will share his daily thoughts with you about the game he adores.

Nick Saban, the retiring coach of Alabama, should receive gifts from Texas’ Steve Sarkisian and Florida State’s Mike Norvell.

He offered them the option to withdraw from consideration for Alabama and advance in their current positions.

The Seminoles had a difficult season finale after being taken advantage of by the College Football Playoff playoff committee. The Seminoles then lost to Georgia in the Orange Bowl by a score of sixty, despite the absence of most of their stars.

Even with the difficult ending, Norvell was regarded as Alabama’s best option. It would have been a nightmare for the people of Tallahassee to lose him. However, he said and did everything correctly. He was rewarded by the school with a new contract worth over $10 million annually.

With a close loss to Washington, Sarkisian was just unable to advance to the championship game. However, the Longhorns have extended his contract, which will undoubtedly increase his salary as well.

Coaches have always pushed for higher pay from their present employers by taking on other jobs as leverage. Social media sure makes it easier.

After the next season, when more teams will have an opportunity to win the championship trophy thanks to the expanded playoffs, the hiring frenzy will only intensify.

It’ll be enjoyable, unless you’re an athletic director on a shoestring and a highly sought-after coach. similar to Sarkisian and Norvell.

The most recent transfer from Alabama to choose Florida State is Shawn Murphy.

Once again, a former football player for Alabama is preparing to leave Tuscaloosa and travel to Tallahassee, Florida.

Linebacker Shawn Murphy made a commitment to Mike Norvell and Florida State after Nick Saban retired and Kalen DeBoer was named head coach. Murphy accessed the transfer portal on January 13, just a few hours following DeBoer’s press conference for the first time.

Murphy’s decision was verified by A&P Agency to 247Sports on Monday evening.

The Seminoles were selected by four other former Tide players: defensive back Earl Little II, wide receiver Malik Benson, guard Terrence Ferguson, and running back Roydell Williams. Mike Norvell, the coach at FSU, was eventually reported as one of the candidates to succeed Nick Saban, and the two signed an eight-year contract.

“Our guys are curious. They are in agony every hour that passes,” DeBoer stated in a press conference. “… recruiting within this team and winning them over must come first and foremost.”

Murphy, a former four-star prospect from Virginia, produced five tackles in 18 career games at UA. Second-year player Jihaad Campbell has tweeted his plans to return to the program for at least one more year. Starting middle linebacker Deontae Lawson has also announced the same.
