During NFL Wild Card Weekend, Former Georgia Bulldogs Turned Up!

With a Super Wild Card weekend, which ran from Saturday into Monday, it was one of the more thrilling NFL football weekends ever. Some of the most thrilling teams from this season emerged victorious in the first round of the 2023 NFL Playoffs, while other teams were forced to return home. Both the winning and losing teams this weekend featured a large number of former Dawgs, and these players performed admirably in their games. In a chilly Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday night, Georgia gave a few subdued performances. After losing 26-7 and picking up a tackle, Justin Houston and the Miami Dolphins saw their season come to an end. Mecole Hardman Jr. helped the Kansas City Chiefs win with a three-yard reception.

One of the more exciting football days of the weekend was Sunday night. Beginning in the Lone Star State, the defense of the Green Bay Packers, led by Quay Walker, was a major factor in the Dallas Cowboys’ season ending embarrassingly. Quay Walker led the team in tackles (11) and was a major factor in the Packers’ 48-32 victory. Devonte Wyatt, his current teammate from college, had his tackle. They are scheduled to play the San Francisco 49ers, the top-seeded team in the NFC.

Sunday night’s game of the weekend was between the team that drafted Georgia’s quarterback and the quarterback who was selected highest overall. The Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams were engaged in combat. Stafford played brilliantly despite taking a lot of hits during the match. The Lions won 24-23, and he completed 25 of his 36 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns in a thrilling defeat that put an end to their season.

This Wild Card weekend extravaganza began on the last day with the Pittsburgh Steelers visiting Buffalo, New York, to play the Buffalo Bills in a snow-filled stadium. Due to their poor start, the Steelers allowed James Cook and the Bills to lead 21–7 at the half. However, the Steelers would not be defeated easily by Broderick Jones, Darnell Washington, or George Pickens. Pickens finished with five receptions for fifty yards, Washington completed his blocking reps, and Jones completed his reps but did not perform up to par. But Cook contributed to the Bills’ 31-17 victory by completing with 18 rushes for 79 yards. This coming weekend, they play Kansas City again.

The Buccaneers hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in Tampa Bay for this weekend’s final game. In order to help the Bucs defeat some of his former teammates in Philadelphia, Jake Camarda had three punts in this contest. Camarda punted three times for 124 yards in the game, averaging 41.3 yards per punt. D’Andre Swift, Kelee Ringo, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Nakobe Dean were sent home as his team won 32–9. While Davis and Carter each finished the game with two tackles, Swift finished with ten rushes for 34 yards. Next weekend, Camarda and Tampa Bay will travel to Detroit to play the Lions.

After an exciting weekend of NFL football, which saw some former Dawgs advance to the Super Bowl, there will be one more Dawg added to the mix when the Baltimore Ravens and the AFC’s top seed, Roquan Smith, play. They are going to play the Houston Texans and CJ Stroud.
