Glenn Thomas, an offensive assistant for the Steelers, is hired by Nebraska as a coordinator.

The first assistant coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers has left the team, starting the rotation of the offseason coaching carousel.

Glenn Thomas, an offensive assistant for the Steelers, was appointed by the University of Nebraska to serve as both the quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator, the school announced in a release. After more than 20 years of experience as a coach, Thomas only played for the Steelers for one season.

Matt Rhule, the head coach of the Carolina Panthers and a former player for Penn State, is the head coach of Nebraska.

In a prepared statement, Rhule said, “I look forward to Glenn Thomas being a part of the Nebraska football program. Glenn Thomas has a history of success throughout his coaching career.” “Glenn has shown himself to be an excellent quarterback developer, and his experience in both college and the NFL is a valuable asset to our coaching staff.”

Although Thomas spent seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, the majority of his coaching experience has been at the collegiate level.

Although Thomas has primarily concentrated on coaching quarterbacks, the Steelers have had assistant quarterbacks coach David Corley and full-time quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan.
