Barcelona have reportedly told Tottenham Hotspur to increase the transfer fee for Clement Lenglet if they are to bring the defender back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a permanent contract.

Clement Lenglet spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur from Barcelona.

The £145,000-a-week (Spotrac) central defender made 24 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs during his loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 28-year-old gave two assists in those games.

The French defender also made six starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League for Tottenham last season.

Lenglet scored one goal in those games.

Sport is reporting this morning that Barcelona and Tottenham have been in talks over a permanent transfer of Lenglet for a while now.

The report has claimed that Lenglet has reached an agreement over a three-year contract with Spurs.

Barcelona were willing to facilitate a move for the Frenchman to Spurs, but now the La Liga champions have decided to increase the transfer fee needed.

Sport is reporting that Barcelona have told Tottenham to pay €15 million (£13 million) for the France international central defender.

Tottenham Hotspur should pay £13m for Barcelona centre-back Clement Lenglet

In our opinion, if Tottenham Hotspur are genuinely keen on signing Clement Lenglet from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, then they should pay the £13 million needed to get a deal done.

It is not a huge transfer fee for a player who is 28 and is at the top of his game.

We do not think that Lenglet was particularly ‘great’ for Tottenham last season, but with no UEFA Champions League football next season, it is hard to see Spurs attracting too many top-quality centre-backs.

Lenglet is a very good central defender who knows the Premier League and has experience of playing in Europe.

If and when Tottenham do get back into the UEFA Champions League, then Lenglet would be an asset for the North London club.

Tottenham Hotspur ‘open talks with Manchester United target Randal Kolo Muani’

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened talks with Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani over a potential move to North London, with Manchester United also keen on the player.

The 24-year-old made the switch to the Bundesliga from Ligue 1 outfit Nantes in the summer of 2022, going on to enjoy the best goalscoring season of his career to date in Germany.

A record of 15 goals and 11 assists in 32 league matches for Frankfurt meant the attacker ranked top of his side’s scoring and assisting charts during his maiden campaign at the club.

Having appeared nine times for France after making his debut in September 2022, the forward also has a level of international pedigree, with him last playing for Les Bleus against Greece in June.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Spurs are interested in bringing Kolo Muani to London this summer if club legend Harry Kane was to depart.

England’s all-time top scorer has been extensively linked with a move away from the Lilywhites this summer, with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich hoping to bring him into their squad.

The report claims that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been informed by the club’s ownership that he must sell Kane in this transfer window if the forward does not agree to new terms.

The 29-year-old’s current deal in North London expires next summer, meaning Ange Postecoglou‘s men could lose a player who they value at £100m for nothing in a years time.

It is understood that a deal for Kolo Muani would cost Spurs £69m – a price tag which would be reasonable if they were able to reuse the money bagged from Kane’s possible transfer to Munich.

The Premier League is supposedly the Frenchman’s preferred destination this summer, and the 24-year-old is said to be keen on a move to North London in order to link up with new manager Postecoglou.

t was reported earlier this month that Manchester United are still interested in bringing Kolos Muani to Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag desperate to recruit a striker before the end of the summer window.

With a deal for Kane said to be currently off the cards, the Red Devils have recently focused their attention on the signing of Atalanta BC‘s Rasmus Hojlund, although Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be in the race for the Dane.

PSG sporting director Luis Campos is reportedly prepared to sanction a move for the 20-year-old forward, with the Ligue 1 champions looking to fill the attacking void left by Lionel Messi‘s departure to Inter Miami.

Spurs have endured a disrupted pre-season to date after matches against Leicester City and Roma were cancelled, although Postecoglou’s charges will get back on the pitch against Lion City Sailors of Singapore on Wednesday.
