A statement from the CEO
Hi everyone, and let’s hope for another successful season for our club in 2024.
I took on the role of CEO last week, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to steer this fantastic club. There is much to be done, much to get better at, and now is the right moment to look forward, see everything with new eyes, and adopt an optimistic outlook on what can be accomplished.
We bid farewell to Trevor Nisbett, one of the greatest leaders in our football team’s history and a pivotal figure in the West Coast Eagles’ history, as I walk in. Trevor has been in charge of this club’s tremendous growth and success. Seven grand final appearances and four AFL premierships were earned during the establishment and relocation of our Subiaco home, our move to Optus Stadium, the construction of a state-of-the-art facility at Mineral Resources Park in Lathlain, and our entry into the AFLW competition. As a devoted employee and supporter of the West Coast Eagles, Trevor is undoubtedly one of our best and most dependable servants. We wish him and his spouse Pam all the best in life.
I would like to take this time to express my gratitude to all of our members and corporate partners for their support and for committing to the upcoming season. We value your enthusiasm and dedication to our team, as well as your financial support and continued participation as we strive for victory. It has great significance!
Our teams’ on-field performances have been lacking in recent seasons, and we all need to prioritize and concentrate on improving this. We’ll improve, we’ll get better, and we’ll start winning football games again.
Daisy Pearce is a fantastic addition to our team as our AFLW coach. Based on our conversations, I am confident that her enthusiasm and determination will have a significant influence on both our women’s program and the number of girls who play the game in Western Australia.
We have added a lot of talent in recent drafts, and it will be interesting to watch how these players grow and adjust to the demands of the AFL and AFLW competitions. Although there is still much to be done, the club has always placed a strong emphasis on youth development, which has benefited us greatly over the years.
I urge as many of you as possible to attend our Fan Day on Saturday, February 10, so you can meet the players and experience the excitement we are bringing into Season 2024.
To sum up, since we are a football team, football has always been and will always be our top priority. By doing this, we hope to take care of our group of devoted and enthusiastic supporters and provide a positive experience for those who connect with and support the West Coast Eagles.
It’s time to put on the work gloves and start working.
