Report: WVU to Maintain QB Coach Position in-House

Sean Reagan, the quarterbacks coach for West Virginia, is leaving to rejoin Gerad Parker as offensive coordinator at Troy. Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports reports that Tyler Allen will likely be promoted by WVU to take over the role.

Allen worked for a year as a graduate assistant under Neal Brown at Troy University before moving to West Virginia with him. Before taking the quarterback position at Jacksonville State, where he assisted Zion Webb in earning first-team all-conference honors, he briefly attended Morgantown. In the spring of 2023, he added the position of special assistant to his head coaching responsibilities after returning to West Virginia in 2022 as an offensive analyst.

Reagan has worked with Brown at West Virginia since 2008 and has been a member of his staff from the beginning. Before relocating to the tight ends room, Reagan coached the Mountaineer quarterbacks from 2019 to 21. This gave Graham Harrell complete control over the offense and passing game.

Reagan returned to his position as quarterbacks coach after Harrell left to take over as offensive coordinator at Purdue, where he assisted Garrett Greene in having an outstanding first season as a full-time starter.

2025 OT Cam Clark discusses his upcoming junior days and the West Virginia offer.

Cam Clark, an offensive tackle from Dexter, Michigan, received an offer this week from West Virginia.

Along with a number of Mid-American Conference schools that have offered the 6-foot-7, 275-pound junior, the Mountaineers now have him alongside Cincinnati.
The Texas A&M staff, led by new head coach Mike Elko, had another exciting weekend in recruiting as the Aggies hosted numerous top prospects in the 2025 and 2026 cycles on Saturday in addition to landing two commitments from linebacker Kelvion Riggins and cornerback Deyjhon Pettaway.

The 5-foot-11 1/2, 205-pound Riggins is an instinctive, quick-witted second-level defender who pops pads. One of the state’s fastest defensive backs, Pettaway is 5 feet 10 inches and 175 pounds. He has a lot of potential as a secondary passer.

Despite not being selected for College GameDay, Providence-Georgetown was the first game on Saturday amid a packed schedule because everyone was curious to see some broken hearts reconcile. Ed Cooley and Providence were involved. The pregame parade was an absolute wild ride, but the Providence supporters maintained composure, pelted its former coach, who had awkwardly left for Georgetown, with jeers, and went on to defeat Cooley’s Hoyas by eight points in a game that was far closer than that.

However, the 152-game schedule on Saturday offered far more spectacle. To decide the game, Baylor and TCU needed three overtimes. There were enormous ramifications to the double-overtime war between Butler and Villanova. Utah State defeated Boise State on the road in overtime to preserve its amazing season. What a Danny Sprinkle season it has been. Detroit Mercy managed to avoid a victory for an additional month. Mike Davis has a 0–22 unit. Since last February, the Titans have not triumphed in a game.

And Dalton Knecht scored 32 points in another scoring spree. Vanderbilt was skewered this time. That’s five straight games in which Tennessee’s newly-dubbed “White Mamba” scored 25 points or more.

The legitimacy of Texas Tech is no longer under dispute. The Red Raiders came together to defeat a frantic Oklahoma team 85-84 on the road, and they managed to escape Norman. In Big 12 play, Texas Tech is 5-1 overall, and Grant McCasland has won 32 of his previous 37 games without much fanfare.

Thanks to his defensive mastermind billing, McCasland has risen to the top of the coaching hierarchy, and his team held Oklahoma star guard Javian McCollum to just seven points on 2-for-11 shooting. Although Texas Tech’s attention to detail is a major factor in why it was arguably McCollum’s worst performance of the season, this Texas Tech offense is a quiet trainwreck. When preseason results are taken out, the Red Raiders’ offensive efficiency is ranked 16th in the country, according to Bart Torvik. The only first-year coach with a top-20 offense is McCasland.

The Big 12 has the ability to quickly demoralize you; just ask Baylor, who has lost three straight games by a total of nine points. However, Texas Tech is putting McCasland in the lead for Big 12 Coach of the Year.
