Wearing a jersey of a kindred spirit during the 49ers NFC Championship Game, SF Giants legend
San Francisco Giants legend Hunter Pence was present at the NFC Championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions on Sunday night. He was wearing the 49ers tight end George Kittle’s jersey, a kindred spirit. Pence wasn’t the only Giants icon present during the match.

Pence and his spouse Lexi attended the game together, supporting the 49ers as they overcame the Lions to make it to the Super Bowl. With the 49ers trailing 24-7 at the half, it’s possible that he delivered one of his signature inspirational speeches to spur them on.the rs jersey of his signature inspirational speeches during halftime to spur on a 49ers team that was trailing 24-7 and looked to be in serious trouble.
Pence rose to fame for remarks he made during the 2012 postseason when the Giants trailed the Reds 0-2 in the NLDS and the Cardinals 1-3 in the NLCS and had to rally.
Pence is also no stranger to defeating Detroit teams; in the 2012 World Series, the 49ers overcame the Tigers despite being overwhelming favorites.
Given how much Pence’s baseball style and Kittle’s football style resemble each other, it makes sense that Pence would be sporting Kittle’s jersey. On the field, both guys are just being who they truly are, authentically, and they don’t hesitate to play the ball their way.
Pence was known for his ability to throw like his arm was about to fall off, swing the bat like a caveman, and pull his socks up above his knees.
Conversely, Kittle flaunts his lengthy hair and doesn’t mind being photographed while playing or making jokes with rival players or teammates.
Most importantly, Pence and Kittle give their all in their respective sports. When Pence was in the game, he would work as hard as any player in the league and was the epitome of a team player. In a similar vein, Kittle would gladly forego any personal gains in order to help the team win. He also has no problem blocking for his teammates.
I seem to recall that Pence had some experience defeating a Kansas City team back in the 2014 World Series, so maybe the 49ers can get him a trip to Las Vegas.
