Christian Wood appeared shocked by Darvin Ham’s most recent starting five alteration.

Big man Christian of the Los Angeles Lakers doesn’t seem to be too fond of the team’s selection for the starting lineup against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night. LeBron James, Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, Taurean Prince, and Jaxson Hayes make up that starting five.

This is due to the fact that, aside from Anthony Davis, who is not playing against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night, Wood has perhaps been the team’s most effective big man in the little time he has played. Currently in the season, the 6-foot-8 forward is averaging 14.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 47.1 percent field goal and 31.6 percent three-point shooting per thirty minutes.

Instead, big man Hayes has been chosen by Lakers head coach Darvin Ham. Hayes is averaging 11.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 68.1 percent shooting from the field in 36 minutes per game. This season, the center has not made a 3-pointer.

Furthermore, Ham has decided to start the team’s lineup with swingman Prince once more. In the Lakers’ past two games, Prince has scored five points overall on 2-of-8 field goal and 1-of-5 long-range shooting. In an incredible 50 minutes of playing time, he also has a plus/minus of minus-40.

A head coaching change is being called for by many fans, analysts, and media members due to Ham’s occasionally perplexing lineup changes. Internally, a few players have also quietly poked fun at Ham for not making any on-court adjustments.

With 48 games played, the Lakers are only 24–24 on the season, good for the ninth seed in the Western Conference. This is true even though James and Davis have played 46 and 43 games respectively so far this season.

Nine days remain until the trade deadline, and it appears that things are beginning to fall apart a little because of the uncertainty surrounding the team. The team is currently playing six games on the road, starting with a game against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night and going on to play the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Charlotte Hornets.
