Will Black, a Notre Dame commit, is trying to add more skilled blockers.

In the 2025 recruiting class, Joe Rudolph is off to a quick start. He has already secured spots with some elite offensive linemen who have a high opinion of Notre Dame. Will Black, an offensive tackle from Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut, is already the first commit in the class. According to On3, the 6-7, 285-pound star is currently rated as a four-star, ranked No. 203 overall, and the No. 14 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class. Alabama, Michigan, Texas A&M, Florida State, Tennessee, Penn State, Nebraska, South Carolina, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Duke, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Syracuse, and Rutgers were among the many schools Black had the option to choose from; he ultimately decided on the Irish.

Black can now concentrate on the other important offensive line targets on the board since he is now locked in. The first is Owen Strebig of Waukesha, Wisconsin’s Catholic Memorial, with whom he already shares a close relationship.

“My relationship with Owen is good,” Black said to Irish Breakdown. “We’ve discussed Notre Dame’s future numerous times, and I think we could accomplish great things together.”

Between Strebig and the Irish, things are at an all-time high. Six times, the 6-8, 290-pound offensive tackle has come to South Bend; the last visit was for Junior Day two weekends ago. Right now, everyone believes Notre Dame to be the front-runner. Things will be difficult to top if they conclude anytime soon. Star player Matty Augustine of Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, who also came for Junior Day, is another top target on the board. It turns out that Augustine and Black get along incredibly well. Considering that they are both from Connecticut, it makes sense.

Black clarified, “Matty and I play in the same league here in Connecticut.” In addition, we all camped together at Notre Dame and received offers simultaneously. We also set up camp in Alabama and Michigan. Overall, my relationship with Matty is pretty good. The Irish, who Notre Dame has been pushing for since they made an offer last offseason, should once more be seen as the front-runners for Augustine. He wants to take his time doing his homework and is open to doing it at different schools. It surely doesn’t hurt Notre Dame’s chances to have Black on their side, you can bet.

Jack Lange, an offensive tackle at Eureka (Mo.) High School, is the final important target—but by no means the least. Notre Dame has taken the top spot for the Missourian following his recent visit for Junior Day. Although Black hasn’t had as much time to get to know Lange, he does have a great option in him right away.

Black remarked, “I’ve only spoken to Jack once, but he seems like a cool guy.” “I relate to him in both my on and off-field traits.” In 2025, Rudolph is set to sign a class of offensive line prospects that could be very good. With all four offensive linemen on the list, they are thought to be the favorites, which would result in an absurd total haul.
