Jacob’s humorous remarks to the 49ers and the lessons we can draw from Jed York

Ever find yourself thinking, perhaps with a small smirk, “Lol why is he like that,” after witnessing a Klay Thompson podium visit? Perhaps it’s when he begins answering questions with lengthy pauses, such as “I thought we played okay.”

Sometimes, too, like Tuesday before the game against Philadelphia, Joe Lacob makes me roll my eyes in the same way. He hosted a number of San Francisco 49ers players in one of the lounges, where he surprised them with Warriors jerseys personalized with their name and jersey number on the back. He also gave a brief speech explaining why he liked the jersey:

Let’s Move

It was a great game, but you guys gave me a major heart attack. Man, you have our undying love—almost as much as the Warriors. [Everyone laughs except for his friends and family, and one of them exclaims, “Joe?!?!” as if to ask, “Why did you say that?”]

However, we all plan to attend the game because we love you guys. We hope everything goes well for you. 49ers, go!

Thus, it’s acceptable to feel a little uncomfortable when Lacob displays his ownership status, much like Joaquin Phoenix’s Caesar in “The Gladiator.” Joe, you are loved! Klay, you too!

And that’s the main thing, people. Recognizing and appreciating your boys’ individuality and character because you are so familiar with them. You value what they accomplish, and you

It truly is an immersion on a Zen level. It’s what I preach, and I will keep preaching it. To be honest, I believe that those who are reluctant to try this experiential method of fandom are simply suffering and are stuck in the mud, so I’m learning how to make little adjustments. I’ll talk more about this later.

Fyi, the Warriors Shop next to Chase Center has easy customization options for those jerseys. Javon Kinlaw, Ji’Ayir Brown, Chase Young, Ray Ray McCloud, Charvarius Ward, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Trent Williams (who posted a humorous selfie for Chase Center and demonstrated some post-up moves), and Arik Armstead were present at the Lacob jersey presentation. Everything is fine in this behind-the-scenes video.

In other news, our friend Austin Scott of KNBR was on the scene today at 49ers practice in San Francisco, where owner Jed York answered questions from a group of reporters gathered in a room at Levi’s Stadium. He almost started crying as he described how his young son was having a hard time at halftime because of the team’s bad play against the Detroit Lions up to that point. York decided to cheer up his son by throwing a football around with him in the suite.

That made me consider asking Lacob to participate in more media interviews. Although this instance involving York was undoubtedly an isolated incident as well, realizing the human side of your franchise and your owner can truly ease any’

Another question concerned York’s connection to Kyle Shanahan and what would happen if Shanahan lost another Super Bowl (keep in mind that he hasn’t won one yet). It appeared that Jed and Kyle were close, and they both understood how difficult it is to succeed in the NFL. I would like to believe that Joe and Steve are experiencing something similar. In my opinion, the “Fire Kerr” brigade is wildly inaccurate about the reality of what goes on behind closed doors.

Below is a compilation of videos that Scott contributed to KNBR, along with one from 95.7 The Game: The link is https://x.com/knbr/status/1753159816414183631. I’ll write a second post summarizing the main points.

The same analogy I use on the livestreams when people get angry or impatient about why things with Golden State don’t change quickly in reaction to what’s happening on your TV screen is that professional sports in reality and humanistic form are totally not like a video game (that’s me saying, “This isn’t NBA2K,” for the hundredth time on YouTube). I should probably do more shorter posts like this one, but it’s been difficult to steer this LGW cargo ship and change old habits.

So, Jed, I appreciate you offering to stand in front of the media today and reassuring me that this is the correct thing to do.
