The most important recruit for each ACC football team on National Signing Day 2024

With National Signing Day rapidly approaching, we’ve consulted insiders to find out who the most significant recruit from the class of 2024 is for each ACC team. The Hurricanes’ top recruit, five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott, is ranked as the team’s most impactful recruit for the upcoming season, which is one of many surprising omissions from this list. Miami leads the conference in the 2024 Recruit Football Team Rankings with the No. 3 overall class.

Despite the Tigers’ generational commitment to defense, Clemson was able to sign multiple five-star recruits for the 2024 cycle, joining Miami as the only other ACC program to do so. With Florida State, the three ACC teams complete a top-25 class, with North Carolina placing just outside the top 25 at No. 26 overall.

Out of the three newcomers in the conference, Stanford signed the sixth-ranked class in the ACC. With just 10 total commitments, SMU is ranked last in the conference and finishes No. 12, with Cal coming in third.

The most important recruit for each ACC team for the 2024 college football season is listed below:

Impact Hire: Quarterback Elijah Brown | No. 11 QB, No. 192 OVR | Four-Star

The quarterback competition at Stanford fluctuated during the 2024 campaign. Both quarterbacks, particularly Ashton Daniels, had their moments, but when Brown gets to campus, the job is up for grabs. He signs up early for spring camp, giving him an opportunity to establish himself in the field. Though Brown’s 42-2 record as a starter at Mater Dei represents tangibles beyond his physical attributes, he finished as 247Sports’ No. 11 quarterback. — Jackson Moore of Cardinal247

Effect Hire: S. Ka’Davion Dotson | No. 89 S | Three-Star

Dotson is the most “college-ready” player in SMU’s recruiting class, according to Jordan Hofeditz of PonyStampede. The Texas native was a former track star and stands a sturdy 5-foot-11, 170 pounds.

“The biggest obstacle for Dotson getting on the field this year is depth at the safety position,” Hofeditz stated. “Although he may be the most prepared player in the class for college, SMU returns five players who together started every safety position last season. However, his skill might enable them to accommodate him.”

Impact Recruit: Isaiah Crosby, a three-star JUCO who ranks No. 5 S and No. 43 OVR

“Cal needs to replace starting safety Patrick McMorris, and Isaiah Crosby, a junior college commit, is a strong contender to take his place. As a JUCO prospect from Trinity Valley (Texas), he had five interceptions in a three-game stretch and received 25 offers. Cal overcame teams like Texas Tech, Washington State, and Houston by making a late push for Crosby. Despite being active in the portal, the Golden Bears did not introduce any transfer safeties because Crosby had already committed.” — Jackson Moore of Bear Territory

Impact Hire: WR Four-Star Jeremiah Melvin | No. 34 WR, No. 204 OVR

Since 2000, Melvin has been the ninth-ranked prospect to commit to Wake Forest. He should compete for early playing time in the upcoming season as the only four-star prospect in the Demon Deacons’ class. Brian Dohn, a national recruiting analyst, believes he will be selected in the future NFL Draft.

“Big-framed receiver who is a red zone threat and can be a mismatch nightmare for defensive backs because of his size,” Dohn stated. “Will devour smaller cornerbacks because of his ability to get in the air.”
