According to reports, Kieren Jack, a former captain of Sydney, will take on an off-field role with the West Coast Eagles.

Jack, who retired in 2019, worked as a commercial manager for the Swans for nearly a year before taking on other jobs outside of football in Sydney.

According to Ryan Daniels of 7 News Perth, the 36-year-old is now expected to join the Eagles as the team’s head of strategy and innovation.

With over 250 AFL games under his belt and a Bob Skilton Medal, All-Australian selection, and four seasons as Swans captain, Jack brings a wealth of experience to the Eagles.

With the expected arrival of the premiership Swan, West Coast will experience even more off-field changes. The team is currently looking for a new list manager after Rohan O’Brien resigned.

Don Pyke, a former Sydney assistant, has been appointed as West Coast’s new chief executive; however, Jack and the former Adelaide coach did not play together during Jack’s time with the Swans.

After a disappointing couple of seasons for the Perth powerhouse, Pyke’s Eagles hope to contend for the finals in the upcoming years.

In the 2022–2023 season, the Eagles won five of their forty-five games, earning only their second wood spoon.

The 2024 West Coast campaign will kick off at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, March 17, against Port Adelaide.

Don Pyke, the CEO of the West Coast Eagles, considers changing the team song and making a banner comeback following the acquisition.

Don Pyke, the new chief executive of West Coast, reports that the team is having conversations about reintroducing the customary pre-game banner in response to ardent supporters’ requests to do away with their inflatable Eagle.

The Eagles have run out through an inflatable tunnel rather than a traditional banner since moving to Optus Stadium in 2018, and despite winning the premiership that season, the tunnel has not gone down well with supporters.

A pin might be headed for the inflatable Eagle as Pyke attempts to turn around West Coast following two disastrous seasons.

Watch this space and we’ll see what we do in that area as the banner is being discussed and is on the agenda,” he stated on SEN.

Given the Eagles’ difficulties the previous season, ardent supporters pushed for the removal of the tunnel, which led to the banner’s review.

In addition to the clever banter emblazoned on the front to give it to the opposing team for a little fun, there is something special about watching the boys break through the banner to get you excited for the game.

Some players have even stated that they would like to see the banner come back.

Premiership defender Will Schofield told 6PR in 2021, “You must have a banner, there’s no argument here.”

“The banner needs to be returned. There’s nothing better than having a banner to run through.

But it’s not the only Eagles custom under scrutiny; the team song is also being examined.
