Following the Super Bowl, the 2024 NFL Draft will take place in Detroit, as all eyes are on the city.

FOX 2 DETROIT – While excitement is building for Super Bowl LVIII, attention will soon shift to Detroit and the 2024 NFL Draft, which is less than 80 days away, as another season comes to an end.

“Right now, my heart is pounding. We are targeting April 25th,” stated Dave Beachnau. “Planning will amplify here very quickly, but we’ve got a good plan in place.”

This week, Beachnau is in Las Vegas working with a committee from Detroit to organise one of the biggest NFL shows of the year. In addition, he serves as the Detroit Sports Commission’s executive director.

His group has been collaborating with the Detroit police, the mayor’s office, the Downtown Detroit Partnership, and the Lions to organise “a mini Super Bowl,” as Beachnau puts it.

The planning committee will see sketches of the proposed layout, which will run from Campus Martius Park to Hart Plaza, for the first time later this week.

“When you think about the draft main stage theatre, that’s going to be built around Campus Martius Park, there’s so many moving pieces to it from street closures to impact on the businesses,” he stated.

Fox 2: “When you tell people you’re from Detroit, what has been the conversation about the Lions, and about the city?”

“It seems that everyone that we’ve interacted with, were rooting for the Lions,” he stated.”The Dallas Cowboys are no longer America’s team, as I have stated a few times to various other individuals. The American team is the Detroit Lions.

“I think the Lions’ run, over the course of three playoff games — with a national broadcast of Detroit at the forefront, I think that only amplifies the opportunity and it brings more significance to the draft in Detroit.”

The planning committee is expected to remain in Las Vegas through Monday. However, the NCAA Men’s Regional Basketball Tournament games will be held at the Detroit Sports Commission prior to the draft happening.

It offers an additional chance to highlight the city.

Fifteen celebrities make their predictions for the 2024 Super Bowl.

Motorsports legend Mario Andretti was cheering for the Detroit Lions to win their first Super Bowl in 2024, just like most of the NFL outside of the Bay Area.

Like most of the NFL, Andretti had some words to say to Lions coach Dan Campbell following Detroit’s 34-31 NFC Championship loss, which included a 17-point deficit lost and some dubious fourth-down decisions.

Andretti said, “I would have loved to see the Lions go,” to Heavy. “Coach Campbell is a good guy, but he made a lot of mistakes.”

Rather, the 49ers made it to the 2024 Super Bowl, where they will take on the Chiefs on Sunday, February 11.

Andretti was one of many celebrities that Heavy Sports asked to predict the 2024 Super Bowl. An old hand at this prediction column, Andretti is the only celebrity to have made a correct prediction in 15 years, which came about in 2012. Regarding the current year:

“I’m taking the Chiefs, 28–24.” It’s difficult to oppose Mahomes, and Andy Reid is awesome. Both quarterbacks are appealing to me. Brock Purdy exudes quiet confidence and is as composed as a cucumber. It’s evident in his eyes. I really enjoy him. I hope both teams come out on top. It’s difficult to predict this one.
