After a disastrous January exit, Aston Villa will attempt to sell misfit Calum Chambers in the summer.

Calum Chambers, 28, was not sold by Unai Emery in January, and Aston Villa will try to offload him during the summer transfer window, sources Alan Hutton.

Emery acknowledged having informed Bertrand Traore and the former Arsenal defender that he was free to leave Villa Park during the January transfer window [Jacob Tanswell, January 12]. Nevertheless, Chambers continued to play for Aston Villa as the window slammed shut.

It seems that Aston Villa was limited in their options to get Chambers out of the door during the January transfer window. They not only announced his availability to the world, but they also engaged in negotiations with multiple clubs to arrange a sale.

The 28-year-old has only made three appearances this season in all competitions, and after dropping out of Villa Park’s starting lineup, he has spent the majority of the season on the substitutes bench.

Villa will probably try everything in their power to get the centre back back on the field come summertime, but it looks like they’ll need to find him a Premier League suitor to get him.
