These days, Nick Saban has learned to roll with the punches.

The most recent instance occurred recently when he conducted an interview with comedian Michael Turner about the course at the Waste Management Pro Am in Phoenix.

“Do you think there would be more job opportunities this offseason if you had another year to prove yourself at Alabama?” Turner enquired.

Before he allowed the coach to give his parting speech, Saban actually laughed.

Turner, naturally, had more information: Saban can now “do what you want to do, which is, I think, focus on Arizona State and kind of rebuilding our program,” thanks to his retirement.

Another chuckle from Saban.

“Why have you avoided the program?” Turner went on. “You’re afraid of the Pac-12.” Now, it’s the Big 12. You’re capable of handling it.

“If I was going to coach, I would have stayed at Alabama forever,” Saban retorted.

He’s been very busy lately. At the Mr. October Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic last month, Saban participated in the game of golf alongside Travis Scott and other players.

Saban took part in the Pro-Am WM Phoenix Open. There looks to be some good ol’ SEC ribbing, if his opening tee shot was any guide. “Go Vols,” exclaimed one fan following his tee shot. But while signing autographs, Saban acknowledged a lot of “Roll Tide” cheers, according to AZ Central.

Even after retiring, the 72-year-old former coach won’t be far from the spotlight. He’s going to be a media analyst for ESPN. The network declared that Saban will attend this summer’s SEC Media Days in Dallas and be featured in its coverage of the NFL Draft. Above all, Saban is going to be working on the “College GameDay” desk.
