SG Ball hooker signs a one-year contract with the Wests Tigers
He played for the Panthers Under-15s in the past.
By agreeing to a one-year contract with Jared Haywood, the current Balmain Tigers SG Ball Cup hooker, the Wests Tigers have strengthened their junior ranks even further.
The following year, Haywood, a junior from St. Marys, transferred to the Balmain Tigers, one of the two Wests Tigers pathways teams, from the Penrith Panthers Under-15s development squad.
After that, in 2023, the hooker would play for the Balmain Tigers Harold Matthews Cup team. This season, he would then be promoted to the SG Ball Cup team.
If he stays with the team, he will have the opportunity to learn from players like Jake Simpkin, Tallyn Da Silva, who is young and versatile, and Apisai Koroisau, a three-time premiership dummy-half.
Haywood signed a contract with the Wests Tigers that runs through the end of the 2024 season, as confirmed by Aria Management Group.
Zero Tackle is aware that after the current SG Ball Cup season ends, the contract will enable him to play for the Jersey Flegg Cup team.

Lachlan Galvin’s debut will have to wait for Wests Tigers supporters as the young player was ruled out of the team’s first Pre-Season Challenge match.
Galvin was scheduled to play against the New Zealand Warriors, but the team announced that he would not be playing due to a calf injury he suffered during pregame training.
The five-eighth will return to Sydney and “will undergo scans on what is said to be only a minor strain,” though his exact return date is still unknown.
Iverson Matai, a gifted young halfback, will join the team in his place. Matai was signed from the Canterbury Bulldogs last year and is a member of the extended NSW Cup squad.
