Cleveland Browns: On Friday, 2/17/24, #BrownsMockDraftCountdown Day 4, You Gotta Get Down

To my fellow Cleveland Browns supporters, happy weekend! We’ve only been doing this mock draft for a few days, but hopefully it will help you learn more about the players the Browns might be able to sign in the near future. In less than a week, at the combine, we will truly be able to decipher these guys’ true athletic identities.

You’re correct; we have been heavily drafting the defensive line and wide receiver positions. Although you may be thinking, “Jake, please, man, anything else,” we KNOW the Browns value these positions and that they need to fill them.

A few revisions and notes regarding the draft coverage for this year. First, in addition to the daily draft season, we WILL be conducting an in-depth Weekly Mock Draft. Additionally, for a number of reasons, we will only be operating the Daily Monday through Friday this year. To start, we have four Saturday mocks to satisfy our fixation with mock drafts that day. Second, we wanted to be able to continue offering the caliber of draft coverage you’ve become accustomed to, and several nights of live coverage on Twitch, including a Live Mock Draft every Monday night (starting the first week of February), was just going to be too much.
Everything will stay the same aside from that. In an attempt to give everyone as many options as possible to think about by the final weekend of April, we will switch up the positional targets and their order, take different approaches during Free Agency, and rotate through the various mock draft simulators available online every day.

We will be using the online mock draft simulator created by NFL Mock Draft Database, a new source, for today’s hypothetical. This year, there are more options than ever before!

These daily drafts are not meant to be predictions; instead, they are meant to be a means of testing different online mock draft simulators. All they are are constantly shifting investigations of different “What if the Browns decide to…” possibilities. Every prospect will have a synopsis, a link to a video or article about them, and a screenshot of that day’s draft, just like with the Daily Mocks last year and the Weekly Mock Drafts this season. In late February, we will begin with decisions about free agents and resigning.

Pick 54: Ruke Orhorhoro is a fascinating prospect out of Clemson who never hesitates to add defensive talent. At 6’4″ and 288 pounds, he has good speed-to-power conversion. He plays the run well by combining that with remarkable lateral quickness. He has matured nicely despite coming late to the game in his high school career, and if the Browns took this approach, things might turn out well.

Pick 85: Roman Wilson, a player well worth a top-75 selection, is buried in Michigan’s run-heavy offense. If he is available at this position, you should submit the card. He frequently opens up because of his excellent twitch and burst combination. With almost 80% of his catches going for first downs, he hauled in 12 touchdowns. Additionally, he excels in the slot, which the Browns sorely need.
Pick 135: There are some intriguing names at 85, but the route at 135 produces some quality names, so we choose Tennessee’s Jaylen Wright. The running back room needs to be addressed. In 2023, he had the best flat-line speed in the FBS, with 25.7% of his carries going for 10 yards or more. He is the right size.
