Schedule for the Pete Carroll Seattle Seahawks in 2024: Mike Macdonald era probably starts at home

Though the NFL’s regular season schedule won’t be released for three months, we might as well start planning for the Seattle Seahawks’ opening week.

The Seahawks began their season at home in each of the previous two seasons. Is this the first time ever in Lumen Field history that I hear three seasons in a row? Yes, that is most likely the answer.

Thursday, September 5, 2024, is the customary kickoff date for the regular season, which will once again take place in Kansas City. We now know that the Seahawks will not be participating in the historic first trip to Brazil on September 6, so September 8 or 9 will work.

Logistically, it makes no sense for the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks to play home games on the same day. A cursory glance at the schedule reveals that the Seattle Mariners will play the St. Louis Cardinals on the road on Sunday and then have Monday off. That’s one obstacle removed in the way of a home opener. We can rule out a Seahawks Week 2 home game on Prime Video because the M’s are at home on Thursday, September 12.

The Seattle Sounders are the next in line, and they don’t have any games planned for the first week of September. The Seahawks will undoubtedly travel in Week 2 due to the Sounders and OL Reign’s games at Lumen on September 15 and 16, respectively.

It is anticipated that Mike Macdonald will play his home opener against the 12s during this elimination process. Who will they be up against? The Seahawks’ home opponents are listed below:

Chargers News: Predicting Jim Harbaugh’s New Coach’s Performance

The Bolts have added Will Tukuafu, a former defensive quality control coach for the Seahawks, as an assistant defensive line coach to round out their coaching staff.

Tukuafu was a player for both Pete Carroll of the Seahawks and Jim Harbaugh of the 49ers. With his background working with Harbaugh, he knows the system and can make an impact right away. In that regard, he will collaborate with head defensive line coach Mike Elston as assistant defensive line coach, trying to turn around what under Brandon Staley was one of the worst lines in the league for the previous few seasons.

Tukuafu gained experience coaching a young, inexperienced defense with a few stars who gradually started to stand out while working under defensive coordinator Pete Carroll in Seattle. Given that most of the team’s aging players aren’t expected to return, the Bolts’ defense should look similar. When you combine that with their draft capital for this season and their current young talent, Tukafu will have his work cut out for him as he tries to change the Chargers defense. Expect more moves in the upcoming weeks as the Bolts assemble their final roster in preparation for the Harbaugh era. A few assistant and quality control positions are still open.
