Is Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns Set to Win Some Significant Year-End Hardware in 2024?

During a Steelers-Browns game in Week 2 of the 2023 season, running back Nick Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler for the Cleveland Browns, suffered an MCL tear and ACL damage. He had sustained the same knee injury while playing for the Georgia Bulldogs in his sophomore year of college.

In an interview with co-host and three-time Pro Bowler Eric Metcalf for The Dawg Check podcast, Max Loeb has now stated that he thinks Chubb has a good chance of winning some significant end-of-year hardware.

Which player or coach from the Browns, and for what award, would you pick if you had to choose one to win a future award the following season?” Loeb enquired. “If you had to nominate one Browns player to either be a finalist for or win the award, who are you taking?”

At first, Loeb was cautious, saying, “If he comes back, I will say I don’t think he’s a shoo-in for Comeback Player of the Year.” “It’s unfair to those who are trying to make a comeback. However, I appreciate that. Even though I believe it’s difficult for a running back to win MVP, I’m going to put his name in the running for offensive player of the year.”

“But Offensive Player of the Year, I think [if] Nick Chubb comes back, is healthy, produces well in that offense, I think he’s going to be in there,” he continues. “I think we’re going to see at least somewhat the Nick Chubb of old next year, and I’m very excited for it.”

The 5’11”, 227-pound All-Pro has amassed 6,511 rushing yards, 1,011 receiving yards, 48 rushing touchdowns, and four receiving touchdowns in his professional career thus far.
Cleveland finished the season with an 11-6 record and a Wild Card berth, despite playing much of the season without Chubb or $230 million quarterback Deshaun Watson. However, they lost that Wild Card game to the Houston Texans 45-14. After Watson was injured, a rejuvenated Joe Flacco assisted in preserving the signal caller position.
