The ‘Justin Fields unfollowed the Bears’ phase of the offseason has arrived.
For the Chicago Bears, it seems like the same nonsense occurs every offseason. Fans on social media will go crazy as long as the quarterback position is in doubt.
In relation to social media, the most recent piece of information that has fans giddy may or may not be true.
It appears that Justin Fields decided to stop following the Bears’ official Instagram account.
Does Justin Fields’ unfollowing of the Bears on Instagram make a difference?
Can someone genuinely confirm that Fields initially followed the Bears before we make any snap decisions? Of course, it would seem strange if Fields had never followed the Bears in the first place. However, it’s a worthwhile inquiry to make.
Not only that, but if you look at his Instagram account right now, there’s still a ton of Chicago Bears content.
He still includes “Chicago Bears” in his bio. He is shown wearing a Bears uniform in his profile picture. He still posts pictures of himself wearing a Bears jersey. So, really, what kind of a deal is this?
Other recent social media posts indicate that Fields chose to follow players for the Atlanta Falcons, such as Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson, and Drake London. Some people have implied that this could mean Fields ends up in Atlanta.
Once more, we are acting too soon on this. Check out Fields’ list of followers. It seems a little absurd for us to try to make something out of nothing here since he follows players from every NFL team.
Now, in the big picture, it doesn’t matter if you believe the “unfollow-gate 2024” narrative or not. The writing appears to be on the wall at this point in the offseason. An increasing number of prominent sources have publicly expressed their belief that the Bears will
Adam Schefter of ESPN, who is arguably the biggest name in this business, even recently gave us the impression that Fields will be traded.
Now the question is where and for what kind of return Fields will be traded. Next week is the 2024 NFL Combine, so it would seem likely that a move along these lines will take time to develop. Pay attention. We may witness a transaction taking place very soon.
