If the Raiders’ ownership stake is approved, Tom Brady will have to cut his ties to BetMGM.

Even after taking off his cleats, Tom Brady is still incredibly motivated by his next football career. In addition to leading Fox Sports’ commentary alongside Kevin Burkhardt, he is currently taking on a number of challenges. One of them is his application for a minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, which is still pending.

The deal that would have given Brady a minority ownership position in an NFL team is reportedly in limbo “largely because of worries about the sweetheart deal Brady was getting,” according to Pro Football Talk.

Brady is permitted to partake in gambling-related activities and promotions prior to the NFL’s decision regarding his ownership of the Raiders. This is evident in his current relationship with BetMGM.

Brady most recently appeared in the following Super Bowl commercial:
“In an email to PFT, the NFL stated that its employees are not allowed to participate in, use, or permit the use of their names or images in any way with activities or materials that represent, advertise, market, or promote any kind of gambling, including sports betting.”

Brady can have his cake and eat it too for the time being.

The Fox Sports analyst’s ability to bet on sports will still be limited despite having a stake in the Raiders, as PFT notes. He will be permitted to own a minority interest (up to 5%) in a sportsbook business such as BetMGM as an NFL owner.

Brady’s post-playing career is expected to be as dynamic as his playing days after he took a year off. He plans to pursue endeavors in broadcasting, possibly team ownership, and even navigating the intricate rules governing gambling in the NFL.

In the NFL offseason, a former Alabama prep star is filming a movie.

Ameer Abdullah, a running back for the Las Vegas Raiders, has different plans for the offseason than the typical NFL schedule of traveling or working out. The movie “Break the Cycle,” which is slated to begin filming in March, features the former Homewood High School star.

Abdullah will play K-Money in the film “Break the Cycle,” which stars Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Vivica A. Fox, and Cuba Gooding Jr.

The movie’s screenplay, written by former Tennessee standout and NBA player Jarnell Stokes, centers on the lives of two brothers who were raised by their grandmother following a traumatic childhood event. While the other brother is enmeshed in a life of street crime, the other brother is a basketball prospect hoping to make it to the NBA.

According to Stokes, “this film explores themes of family, ambition, and the moral complexities of urban life through the thrilling world of streetball.” It depicts the tale of a young boy who must navigate a perilous path—a tragic reality for far too many young boys in our urban communities. I’m thrilled to have written my first movie and feel privileged to be collaborating on this project with such an amazing cast of actors.

Abdullah ran for 1,800 yards and 24 touchdowns during his final year at Homewood. He also had 515 receiving yards and four punt returns for touchdowns on behalf of the Patriots.

Abdullah ran for 4,438 yards and 36 touchdowns in his final three seasons at Nebraska before being selected in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft and joining the NFL. In 2014, Abdullah was a finalist with the Cornhuskers for the Wuerffel Trophy, the Paul Hornung Award, and the Doak Walker Award.

In two of his first three seasons with the Detroit Lions, Abdullah was the team’s top ball-carrier and led the NFL in kickoff-return yards as a rookie.

Abdullah has participated in two postseason and 125 regular season games during his nine NFL seasons. Throughout his regular-season career, Abdullah has averaged 24.6 yards per return from kickoff returns, ran for 1,683 yards and six touchdowns on 428 carries, and caught 163 passes for 1,207 yards and eight touchdowns.

During his second season with the Raiders, Abdullah averaged 20.9 yards returning kickoffs, caught 19 passes for 131 yards, and ran for 89 yards on 15 carries. In 2023, he played 256 special teams plays and 216 offensive snaps.

On March 13, Abdullah is expected to become a free agent without restrictions.
