Player ‘quite sad’ leaving club for Nottingham Forest – Transfer more ‘see you later than a farewell’

Ibrahim Sangare, a midfielder for PSV Eindhoven, left the team for Nottingham Forest on deadline day, describing his departure as “quite sad.”

Journalist Marco Timmer claims that the relevant parties are very much viewing the move as a “see you later than a farewell.”

Sangare moved to Nottingham Forest yesterday, capping months of rumours and Steve Cooper’s teamwork to acquire him.

Throughout the majority of the summer, the Ivorian gave off the impression that he was a little hesitant to move, which made sense considering that he had also been connected to teams like Paris Saint-Germain.

On deadline day, however, he finally agreed to the transfer, with PSV more than happy to sell him in order to help balance the books and Nottingham Forest having to pay €35 million to acquire him.
Throughout a significant portion of this week, it was explicitly stated that Sangare would ultimately make the decision and would continue to think it through.

The player ultimately made the decision to leave, but Timmer notes that it was “quite sad” for him to leave De Herdgang after spending “wonderful years” with the team.

In fact, he claims that rather than a formal farewell, people are viewing his move to Nottingham Forest as “more like a see you later.”

It remains to be seen if that means he will return to PSV in the future, but for the time being at least Nottingham Forest is the only team that matters. They will be hoping the midfielder can move past his sadness quickly.
