Before the Lille match, Unai Emery confirms the injury to Aston Villa.

Before the Europa Conference League quarterfinal, Unai Emery discusses Clement Lenglet and Matty Cash, providing the most recent updates on Aston Villa’s injuries.

Unai Emery has confirmed Clement Lenglet has picked up a small injury ahead of Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League quarter-final clash with LOSC Lille on Thursday.

The Frenchman, completely omitted from the matchday squad as the Villans drew 3-3 with Brentford on Saturday, will be sidelined for a short while longer. It’s also been assured Matty Cash is working his way back to fitness but is unavailable for a similar period.

Troy Mings and Emi Buendia are making good progress; they are beginning to play, Emery said to Birmingham Live on Wednesday afternoon. “Cash and Lenglet are the last players experiencing issues. Cash is almost ready to begin practicing with us, but for now he is working alone. Emery stated, “Clement Lenglet is not available for tomorrow due to a minor issue.”

In other team news, Mings, Buendia, Jacob Ramsey, and Boubacar Kamara will all miss the remainder of the current campaign. Douglas Luiz is anticipated to start both legs of the match against Lille despite being suspended for the following two Premier League games against Arsenal and AFC Bournemouth.

This midweek matchup is significant as Villa faces their first European quarterfinal in 26 years. It should be an entertaining match because Lille, who is currently fourth in the French top division, will not be taken lightly. Lille has only lost once at home this season, so the away leg in northern France should be thrilling as well.
