Transfer to Oregon State G Jordan Pope is scheduled to go to Texas.

The California product is expected to visit the Aggies as well.

Former Oregon State Beavers guard Jordan Pope is scheduled to make his first of two trips to the Lone Star State on Tuesday when the Longhorns host him. On Thursday, he will visit the Texas A&M Aggies. Pope is 6’2 and weighs 165 pounds.

Questions about whether Pope would postpone his visit to the Forty Acres were raised by guard Julian Larry’s commitment on Sunday and the addition of wing Tramon Mark. However, a report from Longhorns Country on Sunday indicated that Texas was still “excited” about Pope’s visit, and guard Tyrese Hunter’s decision on Monday to register for the NCAA transfer portal confirmed the necessity and appropriateness of Pope’s arrival.

As a true freshman for the Beavers, Pope made an immediate impression. He started 32 of 33 games, averaged 12.6 points per game, made 60 three-pointers, and earned Pac-12 All-Freshman Team recognition. Pope also tied the freshman scoring record and set the Oregon State freshman record for made three-pointers. Pope finished second in the conference for freshmen assists with 74 and led all Pac-12 freshmen in points.

Pope showed growth as a sophomore, averaging 17.6 points and 3.4 assists per game, while also making 87.9 percent of his free throws and 37.1 percent of his three-pointers. With a robust 14.7 percent turnover rate, Pope’s assist percentage skyrocketed to 23.5 percent. Pope needs to get better most of all around the rim, where he shot 57.7 percent from close range.
