Brown Provides Good News About Hurt Players Burks and Lathan
WEST HARTFORD, W.Va. Regarding a couple of scary injuries that happened during Saturday’s 24-21 upset victory over TCU, Neal Brown had some good news on Monday.
No cost safety Due to injuries they sustained against the Horned Frogs, outside linebacker Trey Lathan and quarterback Aubrey Burks required emergency medical attention on the field.
After being hurt while covering an Oliver Straw punt during the second quarter, Burks was removed from the field using a medial cart.
Early in the fourth quarter, Lathan was hurt, and he too needed a medical cart. They were both taken to a Fort Worth hospital for monitoring. Surgery was necessary for Lathan’s injury, and it was completed successfully on Sunday.
Brown stated, “Aubrey is in good spirits and he is going to be okay. All of his tests were negative.” “Although it was frightening, the outcome was ideal. He will follow protocol after all of his tests came back negative, and then we’ll see how he is.
Brown continued, “Trey had a successful surgery yesterday. He will obviously miss the entire year, but he is expected to make a full recovery.”

According to Brown, Burks’ close friend and Lathan’s high school teammate, running back CJ Donaldson Jr., may have been the player most impacted by the two injuries. When Donaldson was carted off the field at Texas last year, the circumstances were similar.
