Transfer Guard Indicates Duke Basketball as a Possibility for Employment

Should Dallin Hall, a two-year BYU guard, choose to join the Duke basketball team, he most likely wouldn’t play a huge amount of minutes the following season. Nevertheless, it seems that the 6-foot-4, 200-pound sophomore, who joined the transfer a week ago despite starting 51 of his 68 games as a Cougar, has the Blue Devils listed among his top 10 targets for his upcoming recruitment.
Only eight schools were on Hall’s list, according to Travis Branham of 247Sports earlier this week: Creighton, Clemson, Cincinnati, Florida, Washington, Utah, Utah State, and a return to BYU. However, Branham announced on Friday night that two more people—Virginia and Duke—have joined that group.

Head coach of Duke basketball Jon Scheyer and his staff have been busy attempting to recruit potentially a couple of veteran perimeter players, most likely to serve as backups for sophomore Caleb Foster and returning junior Tyrese Proctor. But so far, it appears that the Durham staff has had more success pursuing forwards, specifically Mason Gillis, a senior at Purdue, and Maliq Brown, a sophomore at Syracuse.

Dallin Hall’s name is at least worth keeping an eye on over the next few weeks as Scheyer & Co. look to restock a roster that has seen ten early departures this offseason due to the NBA Draft and transfer portal. The Blue Devils and Cavaliers are reportedly among the teams that have late added him to their roster.

Hall averaged 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 29.3 minutes per game as a sophomore for a BYU team that lost in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64 before losing head coach Mark Pope to Kentucky a few weeks later.

The six incoming freshmen who make up the nation’s top recruiting class will be teammates with Proctor and Foster, whoever decides to commit to the 2024–25 Blue Devil program.
