Kentucky completes a major transfer to begin rebuilding their roster.

Whoa! Mark Pope and Kentucky have secured a major commitment that will aid in the roster rebuilding process for the 2024–25 campaign.

Amari Williams, a forward for Drexel, declared his commitment to Kentucky after visiting the state over the weekend.
Williams had narrowed his options to Kentucky, Mississippi State, and St. John’s.

For Mark Pope, this is an excellent starting piece to the puzzle. This season, Williams, a 230-pound 6-foot-10 player, averaged 12.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. He ended with eight double-doubles and ten games with ten or more rebounds.

Williams is most renowned for his shot blocking and defensive prowess. For the third consecutive year, he led the CAA in blocks last season. Over the previous three years, he has averaged 1.8 blocks per game. For his career, he had an 8.7 percent block rate, and in the previous season, it was 8.3 percent.

He averaged 13.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game while he was a junior.

In terms of player efficiency rating, he has spent the last two seasons in the top-16 in the country.

Following the offseason losses of seven-footers Aaron Bradshaw, Ugonna Onyenso, and Zvonimir Ivisic, Kentucky had to begin rebuilding its front court.
