In 2024, the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals hope to play for a Super Bowl. The franchise quarterback for each team appears to be surrounded by a wealth of young talent. In 2023, the Packers shocked everyone by missing the NFC Championship game by just three points. Due to a severe injury sustained by their star quarterback Joe Burrow, the Bengals were only 9-8 overall.
In 2024, both teams will aim to become healthy on their own and contend for a postseason run. Having said that, in a little more than twenty-four hours, the two teams could be doing business together.
Freddie Boston of FanSided emphasized how the Bengals could help the Packers acquire a future defensive cornerstone:
Green Bay might make a move to acquire a top prospect at offensive tackle or cornerback, filling a need and adding a player at a position that is in high demand. Terrion Arnold of Alabama was still available at No. 18, which made it a simple selection with the possibility for a home run.
The Packers should pick up the phone and negotiate if Arnold falls this far. The star prospect from Alabama is ranked ninth in the class by NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah.
Arnold entered Alabama as a highly anticipated safety prospect, so even with his lack of experience at the position, I found it difficult to find much to critique in his play. Jeremiah writes, “He possesses every quality and ability to be a Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback.
Arnold just finished an incredible season for Alabama, snagging five interceptions and breaking up 12 passes. He spends most of his time in the slot but also plays on the outside.
Arnold, an All-American and All-SEC first team member, has superstar potential in the NFL and could be a fantastic tandem in Jeff Hafley’s defense with Jaire Alexander.
But according to The Packers Report’s Zach Jacobson:
This week’s draft should include “13, 14 or more” picks, according to Brian Gutekunst.
Anticipate some movement as the Packers, with eleven picks, are already tied for the most in the league.
