It appears inevitable that West Coast will receive an AFL handout with fresh details emerging about the proud club’s “incompetence”.

Pundits have been characterizing the West Coast Eagles’ situation as “inevitable” as they continue to call for the struggling AFL team to be awarded a priority pick.

Journalist Jay Clark of the Herald Sun was adamant that the Eagles will receive compensation for their problems, which have gotten much worse since the beginning of 2022, when he appeared on Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle.

“They are $1.01 to receive a priority pick at the end of the year, and they are almost unwatchable in the interim, so I feel like it is inevitable,” Clark stated.

The Eagles have not won back-to-back games since Round 19, 2021, and have only triumphed in five of their previous 52 AFL games.
To put their losses in perspective, their 76-point deficit against the Western Bulldogs last weekend did not rank among their top 10 losses since the beginning of 2022.

When commentating on their game against the Bulldogs last Sunday, Brownlow Medallist Gerard Healy expressed similar sentiments to Clark, saying that “they’re in a hole.”

In addition to their appalling track record, Clark criticized the club’s list management during their lowest point.

Clark continued, “This is a team that traded everything for Tim Kelly, and they made no proactive efforts to acquire some early draft picks.”

In agreement with Clark, fellow panelist Scotty Gullan said that the Eagles’ potential to improve may have been limited by their unwillingness to let go of 2018 Premiership players.
