Texas Longhorns LB Jett Bush Signs with the New England Patriots on a UDFA

Linebacker Jett Bush of the Texas Longhorns has signed a contract with the New England Patriots.

AUSTIN: Linebacker Jett Bush of the Texas Longhorns signed an undrafted free agent contract even though he wasn’t chosen among the 11 ‘Horns in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The news that Bush has inked a UDFA contract with the New England Patriots was released by the official Texas football account on Twitter, X. In the hopes of making the 53-man roster, he will now have an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities to the coaching staff during training camp.

Texas was Bush’s college team for all five of his playing seasons. With two sacks, a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown, and a career-high 17 total tackles, the Houston native had the best season of his career last year.

If Bush makes the 53-man roster for New England, he’ll get the opportunity to learn from first-year head coach Jerod Mayo, who succeeds the illustrious Bill Belichick.

In 2020 and 2021, Bush spent two seasons as a Texas player alongside Patriots safety Brenden Schooler. Now, the two will be back together for New England’s offseason activities.

The No. 1 Texas softball team lined up near home plate wearing burnt orange uniforms that matched the infield color as they won 5-2 against Iowa State.

But hot pink from a local youth softball team’s uniforms joined the burnt orange in this game.

Reese Atwood, a sophomore catcher, and Katie Stewart, a freshman infielder, knelt beside the younger players and sang with them as “The Eyes of Texas” played over the speakers.

Stewart remarked, “I was one of those girls.” “I just felt it was a really cool experience to be able to be a role model like the older girls were for me.”

Stewart went 3-3 with three RBIs and one home run against the Cyclones to demonstrate that she was deserving of the moniker “role model.”

After a hit into the outfield in the bottom of the second inning, Stewart stretched out a double to record the first hit for Texas in her first at-bat.

The Longhorns didn’t have to wait long even though they were unable to take advantage of Stewart’s double. Junior infielder Mia Scott stepped up to the plate in the third inning and promptly crushed the ball over the wall for a double.

Notwithstanding the lead, the Cyclones fought hard and in the top of the sixth inning, they nearly rallied to tie the game.

Stewart stated, “Even though the records don’t show it, the coaches said they’re always going to stay in it.” “Closing the door before they have a chance is the best course of action because they will always try to fight back.”

Before, Teagan Kavan, a rookie pitcher with an ERA of 1.90 and eight strikeouts in six innings, was the key to Texas’ success. But Kavan was having trouble now.

Iowa State hit multiple balls into the outfield, putting the Longhorns in a precarious situation with two outs and the score now 5-2.

All they needed was a strikeout to end the inning.

And Kavan hit it, leaving the score at two at the end of the inning.

According to White, “she was pretty dominant early on and doing a great job.” “She can’t always press the help button, but I was pleased with how she handled that last situation, and Mac (Morgan) entered and performed well as well.”

With 18 conference victories, the Longhorns set a new program single-season record.
