“Filthy” St. George players have “given up” on the team following a major error made by the organization’s leadership prior to coach Anthony Griffin being fired.
Prior to Anthony Griffin’s dismissal on Tuesday after a board meeting, several irate St George Illawarra players were said to have ‘given up’ on the team because of inadequate leadership.
The head coach’s fate was sealed by six straight losses, but it has since been revealed that many Red V players were already “filthy” after several high-ranking club officials skipped a celebration last week honoring Ben Hunt’s 300th NRL game.
The team was in shock that Dragons CEO Ryan Webb and chairman Andrew Lancaster had not shown up to the event at Royal Pines resort as they were on the Gold Coast getting ready for their away game against the Cowboys after Magic Round.
