After his mother passed away in Perth, young defender Rhett Bazzo of West Coast will be allowed as much time as he needs to grieve, according to West Coast coach Adam Simpson.
The 52-year-old Kylie Bazzo perished over the weekend in a boat accident in Mandurah after going overboard. Simpson claimed that there was a significant amount of shock throughout the club.
The WAFL player, Steve Bazzo, was also the father of 19-year-old Bazzo, who lost his battle with cancer in 2015. The club is committed to supporting the young man to the fullest extent that it can.
Simpson stated on Wednesday that Rhett and his family had been taken aback by the news.
“The club is supporting them while they work through that grief right now.
We’ll allow him to spend as much time as he requires with his loved ones. For now, football is not his top priority.
