Nick Meace is leaving Stoke City after four years, and the club will name a new physiotherapist.

In November 2020, Meace—a former youth defender on the rosters of Wigan Athletic and Manchester United—joined Clayton Wood during the Michael O’Neill era. He took over for longtime teammate Dave Watson, who left at the same time as club physician Andrew Dent.

Meace has undoubtedly been busy with the first team, tending to the long-term injuries of important players like Tyrese Campbell, Harry Souttar, Nick Powell, and Ben Wilmot, who publicly praised him for getting him fit for the World Cup with Australia.

“This year marks 10 years working in professional football, and the past four of those years have been spent working at Stoke City Football Club; my time here has now come to an end,” he wrote in a social media message.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with some truly remarkable individuals, from top-tier medical professionals to professional athletes representing their nations. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped me along the way.

“I am beginning a new chapter in my life today. I’m eager to explore the opportunities that lie ahead. I’m currently enjoying some time with my family. In an effort to advance my career, I’m willing to take on new challenges.

Among the players who wished him well right away was Souttar, who remarked, “Amazing human.” Best wishes, my man.

After bouncing back from a pretty severe knee injury in time to play against Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, he had stated back in Qatar in 2022: “Some days I’ve wanted to kill him because of the things he’s put me through.” I’m so grateful to him for helping me get back into shape; he’s been there for me through good times and bad. Many guys are present, including Joel (Dawson) and Walshy (Paul Walsh). I have so many people to thank, and the backroom crew has always worked as a unit and was glad to see me back there.
